Deuel County Commissioner Meeting
January 17, 2012
The Deuel County Commissioners met on the above date with the following officials present: Chairman of the Board Larry Kenney, Commissioner Clint Bailey, Commissioner Ben Carlson and County Clerk Polly Olson. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Notice of the meeting was published in the Chappell Register as required by law. Reference was made to the Revised Open Meeting Laws (August 2011) posted at the entrance to the meeting room. Highway Supt. Kara Essman, Road Foremen Mark Heidemann, Gregg McGreer and Matt Bartels met with the board to discuss operations of the highway dept. Resolution 2012-2, withdrawing Project STPE-1255 (4) from the State Department of Roads was approved upon motion of Commissioner Carlson, second of Commissioner Kenney. There were no items for the Board of Equalization
The quarterly safety committee meeting was held with the following members present: Chairperson Kara Essman, Clint Bailey, Keil Velasco and Doug Palik. There were two accidents reported on county roads and the Big Springs cruiser was involved in an accident near Big Springs. Discussion was held regarding the gutters on the north side of the courthouse.
Noxious Weed Supt. Walter Wolford met with the board to discuss the Annual Weed Report. Upon motion of Commissioner Bailey, second of Commissioner Carlson, this report was reviewed and accepted for filing. Kenney, aye, Bailey, aye, Carlson, aye.
Region 21 Emergency Manager Ron Leal met with the board to present the revised Local Emergency Operations Plan. Upon motion of Commissioner Carlson, second of Commissioner Bailey, Resolution 2012-3, the revised LEOP was approved. Kenney, aye, Carlson, aye, Bailey, aye.
Sheriff Adam Hayward presented a report of activity within his office. He also presented fees collected for the month of December in the amount of $399.19. This report was reviewed and accepted for filing.
The County Treasurer six month report was reviewed.
Lana Balka, Nursing Home Administrator met with the board to discuss the financial operations of the Miller Memorial Care Center.
County Attorney Doug Palik, Clerk of the District Court Polly Olson and County Court Clerk Magistrate Megan Wobig presented information pertaining to LB669, an inter-local agreement between the County and the Administrative Office of the Courts. Motion was made by Commissioner Bailey, second of Commissioner Kenny, to not enter into an agreement with the Administrative Office of the Courts. Carlson, aye, Bailey, aye, Kenney, aye.
Claims were approved in the amount of $84,784.99($23, 786.93 payroll, $60,998.06, claims) upon motion of Bailey, second of Carlson. Kenney, aye, Bailey, aye, Carlson, aye.
